Time given by administration for staff training or school food allergy awareness sessions is at times very limited. To complicate matters some school nurses are responsible for educating the staff and communities in multiple schools separated by significant distance.
SOLUTION:
Attempt to communicate the importance of this training to your principal. Consider working with district administration to offer professional development credits. Attempt to educate groups and be prepared to provide individual trainings as necessary. Enlist the help of teachers, counselors, administration and PTA/Os to reach all students and parents in the school community. Use resources and training tools to augment your training, especially to extend time not otherwise allocated to this important subject matter.
